Many families visit Gaya for the first time and are not familiar with the ritual process. Avoiding these common mistakes can make the experience smoother.

Not booking the priest in advance
Many priests near the temple may initially quote a very low price but later ask for additional payments during the ritual. Booking in advance helps ensure transparent pricing.

Not starting the ritual early
Pind Daan is usually performed between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM, so it is best to start early.

Visiting during extremely crowded days
Pitru Paksha is the most auspicious time but also the busiest. Visiting in November is often more comfortable.

Not preparing ancestor details
During Sankalp, the priest asks for the names and gotra of ancestors, so it is helpful to prepare these details beforehand.

Carrying unnecessary puja items
Most materials are arranged by the priest, so you only need to bring one white dhoti and small cash for temple offerings
