An extremely significant religious event is Asthi Visarjan. Asthi is defined as a bone fragment or a collection of ashes from a deceased person. During the final rituals, the deceased's remains are collected and often wrapped in a piece of cloth. The ashes will eventually flow in still water like a river. "Asthi visarjan" is the name of the total immersion procedure.
Before the 10th day, the Asthi are gathered either on the day of cremation or on the third, seventh, or ninth day and submerged in flowing water. It is preferable to gather asthi three days after cremation ceremonies. If asthi is to be immersed after the 10th day, it must happen only after the tirtha-shraddha rite has been completed.
